This policy explains what personal information the Palestine Techno Park website (technopark.ps) collects, why, who else receives it, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it.
The website is run by Palestine Techno Park (PTP), a non-profit research and innovation technology park in Birzeit, Palestine. We decide how the personal information described here is used.

Like every website, ours receives your IP address, your browser and device type and the pages you request. Our hosting provider and Cloudflare, which protects and speeds up the site, record these requests in their server logs. We use them to keep the site running and secure.
Some parts of each page are delivered by other companies, which therefore also receive your IP address: fonts from Google Fonts, page scripts from cdnjs (run by Cloudflare) and jsDelivr, and, on article pages, the share buttons from AddToAny. Cloudflare also measures how quickly pages load, without cookies.
With your permission only, we use Google Analytics to count which pages are visited and how people find them. Google Analytics does not run on pages reached through a personal link, such as a password-reset or unsubscribe link. Videos are embedded through YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which Google describes as not storing information about visitors unless they play the video. Maps, calendars and Facebook posts inside pages load only if you allow external media, or click to load that item.
The Cookie Policy lists every cookie and how to change your choice.
The application form asks for:
We also store the IP address and browser the application was sent from, to deal with spam and abuse. Some forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which sends Google information about your browser and IP address to check that a person, not a program, is filling them in.
When you apply, we email you a confirmation and send the Palestine Techno Park team a copy of your answers so they can review them. We use your application to decide on your membership and to contact you about the Network's activities, which you agree to in the form's declaration.
Some member records were created by our team from contact lists of people already in touch with the Network. Those people receive an invitation to check and complete their own record.
When the team approves your application, your profile appears in the public Network directory at technopark.ps/en/discover, where anyone can see it without signing in. You can take it out of the directory at any time from your member dashboard.
Once approved, you can sign in to edit your profile, choose what your profile shows and change your password. We store your password only in scrambled (hashed) form. We record when you last signed in and count failed sign-in attempts, so that an account can be locked after repeated wrong passwords. Password-reset links expire after one hour.
Messages you send to other members through the site are stored with the sender, the recipient and when they were read, so that both of you can see the conversation.
We email members about Network activities. Our mailings carry an unsubscribe option that email programs such as Gmail and Outlook show next to the sender, and you can always ask us by email to stop. When you unsubscribe, we keep your email address, the date and the IP address the request came from on a list of addresses not to email again. That list is shared by Palestine Techno Park's websites, so an unsubscribe on one is respected by all of them.
If you tell us in the form that you are happy to join the Network's WhatsApp group, we may add your number to it. Other members of that group can see your number, and WhatsApp's own terms apply there.
The contact details of approved members (name, email address, phone number, employer, city and country) are also available to Palestine Techno Park's own events and contact system, so that we can invite members to our events.
When you register for one of our events or campus visits through a form on this site, we store the answers the form asks for, typically your name, email address and phone number plus the event's own questions (for example your university, study programme or why you want to take part), together with the IP address the form was sent from. We email you a confirmation and use the registration to organise the event.
Some events use a registration form run by a partner on its own website. The Palestinian Tech Ecosystem Investment & Growth Forum, for example, registers attendees through a form hosted by DAI on Formsite. That partner's privacy terms apply to what you send there.
The newsletter form at the bottom of each page sends your email address directly to Mailchimp, the service we use to send the newsletter; it is not stored on our website. Where a page asks for your name as well, we keep your name, email address, the page you signed up on, your IP address and browser in our own list, and your browser then passes your name and email address to Mailchimp. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.
If you report a lost or found item, we store what you tell us (the item, a description, where and when, your name, email address and phone number) with the IP address and browser the report came from, and email it to [email protected] so the team can follow it up.
If you email us, we use your address and what you write to reply. Forms on this site that only send us a message do not store what you type on the website; if a form emails your message to us, it reaches [email protected].
For the staff who manage the website, we record each sign-in attempt to the control panel (the email address entered, whether it succeeded, the time and the IP address) and keep a log of the changes they make.
We do not sell personal information. Besides the people and services named above, these companies handle it on our behalf:
Several of these companies are based in the United States or run servers around the world, so information sent to them may be processed outside Palestine.
The website does not delete these records automatically. Applications, member profiles, registrations, newsletter sign-ups and lost-and-found reports stay until our team deletes them or you ask us to delete yours. When a member is removed, the record is first marked as deleted and hidden from the site. The list of addresses that have unsubscribed is kept so that we keep respecting the request. Database backups are rotated: older copies are deleted as new ones are made. Mailchimp, Google and the other companies above keep what they receive according to their own policies.
The whole site is served over HTTPS. Passwords are stored hashed, password-reset links expire after an hour, and our forms are protected against forged submissions and automated spam. Member data and registrations can be read only by Palestine Techno Park staff signed in to the website's control panel.
This website is not aimed at children, and our registration forms are meant for adults and university students.
When we change what the website collects or how we use it, we update this page and the date at the top.
