Two Palestinian Students from Palestine Techno Park Win First Prize Award at Arab Innovation Academy

The Palestinian students Yafa Abdel Rahim and Bashar Shawer did not expect that the "Salamat-EE" application, which they contributed to developing along with the rest of the team members, would win the first prize in the Arab Academy for Innovation competition held in Qatar.

The whole story was a surprise. Their previous and ongoing efforts in developing ideas and building capacities did not go in vain, and the Palestine Techno Park at Birzeit University helped them achieve the win. The idea for developing this application, which focuses on health safety and disease prevention during travel and maintaining a health record, was built in a very short period. The project excelled in securing the first place after competing with 30 projects involving more than 165 students from 30 countries.

Dr. Abdel Latif Abu Hajla, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Technological Park, points out that the idea of the park came to achieve this goal, developing the skills of Palestinian students and youth and encouraging them to innovate. He emphasizes that this project is one of dozens of others supported by the park to promote local and global innovation and invention.

The "Salamat-EE" application targets travelers to raise their health awareness and prevent infectious diseases during travel while maintaining a health record for them. Travelers can obtain necessary information about disease prevention and required vaccinations when traveling to a specific country.

Student Yafa says that the Technological Park was the suitable environment that provided her with opportunities from the beginning to develop her projects. It contributed to networking and providing opportunities for participation in competitions, opening new horizons for innovation.

Bashar Shawer, who participated in developing the application, adds that Palestinian youth have the ability to compete and innovate in this world. He emphasizes the importance of the role of the Technological Park in providing opportunities and supporting Palestinian students in the field of technology.

It is worth mentioning that the Arab Academy for Innovation is a unique initiative in the Arab world that brings together students from various Arab countries to raise awareness about technological entrepreneurship, encourage the establishment of new businesses, and train young talents.
